Using Teams Status

As a lot of businesses have transitioned to working from home - how are you finding contacting your co-workers and keeping track of everyone’s availability? Using the status function in Teams can help! Here’s how:

  1. In Teams, click on your initials/photo in the top right hand corner to view the menu. Click on your current status (“Available” in Fig. 1) to show what other statuses you can set.

  2. Click on “set status message” to bring up the screen in Fig. 2. Type in the message you want displayed when someone sends you a Teams message and click the box “Show when people message me”. You can also choose what duration you would like the status message to appear.

  3. When someone messages you in Teams, they will see the message shown in Fig. 3.

Windows 11

Windows 11 is now available on all compatible devices. Microsoft’s latest operating system is packed with features to help you stay organised, productive and easier than ever to connect to people! Want to learn more about Windows 11? Click here.

Enable text suggestions in Windows

Turn on text suggestions in Windows to quickly complete challenging words and continue working efficiently. As you type, suggestions appear above your cursor, and you can easily select the one you want. Words are predicted based upon your spelling; as you type more letters, new and more accurate suggestions appear.

Here’s how:

Go to Settings > Time & Languages > Typing and enable Show text suggestions when typing on the physical keyboard.

For step by step instructions for Windows 10 and Windows 11, visit Microsoft’s website here.

REMINDER!

Windows Users
It is very important to ensure your devices are being updated which should be happening automatically even whilst working from home, depending on your home internet. The latest version is Windows 10 version 21H2. If you want to know more about what is new in this version here.

Patch Tuesday: Microsoft regularly releases software patches usually every second Tuesday of every month for its software products. Please make sure you apply and restart you computer this week to have these updates applied to your device. For those of you who we managed under a service agreement we will be monitoring and will be in touch if they’re not being applied.

How to update: Allow yourself at least 10 – 15 minutes to fully shutdown and restart your system. This ensures patches are applied, this can also address (and solve) some problems you may be having with your system. You can also manually check by following steps that can be found here.
