Windows 11

Have you upgraded to Windows 11? Our team and some clients who have upgraded to the latest operating system have reported improvements in their devices performance as well as enjoying some of the new features on offer.

If you’d like assistance with upgrading to Windows 11, please email servicedesk@techtree.com.au.

Price Increase to Microsoft Licensing

As of 1st March 2022, you may notice an increase in the price of your Microsoft licensing in conjunction with a worldwide pricing increase. We will be in touch individually about this affects you.

Delay in Supply of IT Goods

We are continuing to see delays in the supply chain of IT goods due to the recent floods in SA and COVID-19. Manufacturers are continuing to experience issues accessing materials, supplier warehouses are being shutdown or running on skeleton staff and courier companies aren’t able to deliver in the expected timeframe. We thank you for your patience & understanding and will keep you informed of all expected timeframes that are provided to us.

Handy Tip for Windows 11 - Minimise every window except the active one

If your desktop screen has gotten too crowded with open windows, Windows 11 allows you to quickly minimise all windows except the one you’re working on.

This feature needs to be turned on by going to Settings > System > Multitasking and turning on Title bar window shake

Once this feature has been enabled, click on the title bar of the window you want to remain open to select it. Then hold the mouse down and move the window back and forth quickly - shaking it essentially. After a couple of quick shakes, all other open windows will minimise, leaving only the one you’ve shaken open. Neat, huh?

REMINDER!

Windows Users
It is very important to ensure your devices are being updated which should be happening automatically even whilst working from home, depending on your home internet. The latest version is Windows 10 version 21H2. If you want to know more about what is new in this version here.

Patch Tuesday: Microsoft regularly releases software patches usually every second Tuesday of every month for its software products. Please make sure you apply and restart you computer this week to have these updates applied to your device. For those of you who we managed under a service agreement we will be monitoring and will be in touch if they’re not being applied.

How to update: Allow yourself at least 10 – 15 minutes to fully shutdown and restart your system. This ensures patches are applied, this can also address (and solve) some problems you may be having with your system. You can also manually check by following steps that can be found here.
